Hi i was wondering if anyone from the days i use to play still plays if so i might some day install the game again that is if i remember how to play this =)

most ppl here play from the first public release m8.

so beware that you might hear some boring stories of how much the life of our married folk sucks and/or hear crying babies being ignored during gathers.

He's probably really asking if there's anybody still playing that he would remember from his days of playing. The answer to that is probably no.

Cheers im pretty sure i remember u at least Fana we hade some bitter rival games in the past but it was allways fun playing against skilled players and clans if u dont mind me asking hows the clan life in NS atm are there any leagues been played? i remember in the old days there used to be like 100-150 people watching on hltv when we played vs RaB i wouldent mind meybe installing the game and joining some old people jus for the fun of it in a pcw or something but not as comm anymore i think im to bad for that atm also 1.5years ago i hade a head injury that gave me memory loss so kinda hard to multitask atm =)

You are probaply smarter than 90 percent playing gathers these days even if you had just had that headwound.

And .. LEAGUE? .. EPIC LOLS XD ! the only things happening are gathers.

You click the gathers button and join .. just join you will definitly NOT be the worse !

But mostly nubs like me in them .. so just make sure you have enough beer to get through the idiocy that is GATHERING !

There is a fix but it involves going through the demos with a hex editor. There was a guide on it. Oh that may have been only for the 3.0 versions. Otherwise you have to download back versions and play demos through that. Wltrs plays tf2 now, but you can still get him on steam... He doesn't drink that much but actually got to meet the guy at LAN. I've seen some other BM players in HoN such as ZaaP and mst dunno if you have contact with them anymore.

Really off topic and purely out of curiosity, did your head injury just cause you to have memory loss of the past or does it affect you with like everyday stuff?

Yeah, I remember you of course. Sorry to hear about your head injury. I quit NS about a year ago and just about everybody else from the "old days" quit a few years before that unfortunately. NS right now is pretty much dead. There's only one active European public server left and some gathers here on ENSL.

That link GibbZ posted is basically my collection of all the old demos. If you're looking for a demo and can't find it there, it probably doesn't exist anymore. Use viewdemo demoname to play demos (you can jump in the demo timeline unlike playdemo which just plays it).

Old demos have some issues with protocol 47/48. The easiest way to fix it, is to use a tool called Half-Life Advanced Effects. Just google it and download. Here's an old guide on how to use it (HLAE works on all demos now): http://www.ninelegends.com/features/fixing-old-ns-demos/

You also need to install the correct version of NS to play it. So for demos from version 3.0b5, you need NS v. 3.0b5 installed. All the old version installers can be found here: http://www.ninelegends.com/files/index.php?dir=Games/Natural%20Selection/

Oh and ignore what GibbZ said about fixing/playing old demos in the post above, he doesn't know what he's talking about :(

Kayos, I think BM played with some quite random Swedish line up later. wltrs and Biomass played somewhat later in ENSL too. I won't start listing other people, because there're quite a many comebacks from old schoolers. Tane, Fana and wltrs are probably the good players who have also played this most of its time.

Klasu made a random apperance with same kind of topic some year or two ago (when ENSL was still active).

You can also spectate gathers. Click Gather -> NS1 Gathers from front page. Wait for it to fill up, and join server. You can also listen to the rage and whine on Teamspeak 3, great past time.

Or you can go to NS2 gathers and listen Fana enjoy it. Excellent choice.

Cheers for all the info guys i might just wait for NS2 to come and hope old people will come back to answer your question Gibbz its a bit of both it mostly effects my reflexes since it takes longer to think about stuff and by the time u decide its kinda to late for gameing i gave up on online games a long time ago and only play games that doesent req any stress =)

By the way i have 2 things to ask Fana is there any chance u could meybe upload the bp vs Rab game as a movie or link it on youtube i tryed getting it to work but since u know a lot more about demos and movies it might be easyer for u i would be very greatful =)

also is there any voice program u guys hang out on so meybe i can pop on sometimes and have a talk? the servers might be deadish but it looks like the forums are at least alive =)

I went through a bunch of old NS-screenshots recently and we played against the BM version with you in it soooo often at some point. Have met some BM dudes irl(zaiko, biomass, wltrs..) a couple of times and as with me, NS is way past them at this point.
