This isn't a constant thing and only happens occasionally, so I'm pretty sure it's not hardware related (in any case I'm running 125 fps and have an ati 4850).
I'm running windows 32 bit and generally don't have any other programs running. I've also recently scanned for malware. Any other ideas?

The cpu's an intel 8400 and it's 4 gigs of ram.
Like I said it only infrequently happens, so I'm assuming it's not hardware related.

your cpu might be decloacking yourself, dl cpuz and check all the info there, also your cpu's cores speed is also something to be taking into checking, if it's below 3.0 then it's nothing abnormal that you get fps drops.

Yes, Olaf is right, you need more SCs around your CPU
hmm i have the same cpu and my corespeed is also around 2ghz when idle
anyone knows if that is normal?
like when i do shit, its going up so 3ghz
my core-voltage is a bit higher, like 1.144 when idle. the rest is similar
ever tried so just reinstall fucking ns ?

Bendorr, just go to control panel, power options and set it to "high performance" (you might need to click on show additional powerplans).
This should disable speedstep, C1E support and Cool n Quiet.
If needed of course, there is nothing wrong with having your CPU at lower speeds in idle.

Is setting it to high performance in control panel going to have any effect on stabalizing occasional fps lag in NS?

I'm too cool to know how to use bios. is Danny's solution going to affect occasional fps drops in NS?

Why dont you try it? Takes 1 second to change and you can change back equally fast. No reboot required or anything.
It disables cool n quiet even though its enabled in BIOS. Dont know how it deals with speed step but it should be the same there.
GAY, do you have an AMD or Intel CPU?

I never passed the reading part in school.
Try setting it to high performance. Your computer will not explode.

I got FPS drops in W7, not in Vista. With either old or new hardware. I tried probably all posible bios options but no luck.

Since Gay lovely as he is never described any of the Situation.
Here is a thought: HIS CPU IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO KEEP 125 FPS ! ... for instance when JP FADES and PGs are around ...
Or he plays metal way to often XD !!

You've got to be some kind of inbred to not know what hardware he has by now.
I could get 200 fps with an e6300 and an 8800GTS once upon a time, so an e8400 and a 4850 should be fine, I think Jerky is probably right about OS.

stop being super scaried faggot and go to the fuckin bios already.
you could also try some older gfx drivers for example as well, radeon's are way too complicated cards, they cost a lot but they are generaly giant bollocks, reinstaling system might also help there are quite a lot of options and gay should easly reach 200 stable fps with his computer hardware.

If speedstep actually activates in-game I'd be very surprised, I doubt it'll make any difference
