Hello,
So we are planning a get-together in the summer of 2010 with
ns-gamers from Finland and whoever wants to attend. This event will
probably take place over a weekend (Friday and Saturday).
We gather a small amount of cash from everyone who is attending and
spend it on whatever we choose, may it be a sauna + a cabin + shitload
of beer or all those combined and a stripper.
What I figured is that there's a lot of people coming from Oulu, and
is a bit hesitant to come all the way down to Helsinki 'cause of the
price of the fare. Now this can be sorted if you all share a car,
for instance, that'll be about 10-20 euros one way a head (or less). Given that
someone has a car. I can even pay a small sum for the gas.
A lot of people filled out a survey I did a couple of days ago, we had
some trolls, some who didn't bother to fill it out and some who has
been offline for a long while, but more important, people who might
actually show up to this thing and take it srsly.
So on to the results.
First question. A fairly simple one. No explanation needed.
So, the majority wants it in Helsinki. I have a fairly good sense of
what constitutes as good clubs, and so on, in Helsinki and it feels as
if this event would pan out nicely as there are a lot of possibilities
here. And I have to admit my favoring of Helsinki from the get-go, as I
believe this event and fun-factor would gain the most from being located
here.
But how many would be able to actually come to Helsinki? A bit diffuse
question there, 'cause we don't have a certain month pinned yet and
people might be able to come in June but not in August. You see?
Let's move on..
And what do the people want to do? I offered a few options on what might
go down on this night of glory and excellence. There were some additions
to my options: "A obscene amount of ethanol into the bloodstream", and
"chill pub". That the shocking amount of alcohol we will consume is a
given, and the "chillaxing at the pub" might be an option for those
who chooseth to do so, as this will be taken into consideration as the
event will be held at several different locations during the night.
And how much money would people be ready to throw on this? How much is
an "once in a lifetime"-event worth? Can you put a price-tag on that?
Apparently you can, and that amount is worth 20 euros.
I calculated some shit and came to the conclusion that with the money
we could set the people who are not from Helsinki up with a place to
sleep, for everyone, and a place to make your own food, wash clothes,
watch TV and so on (A 4 star camping cottage, high class) but we'd have
to ask for a little more from you or less from the others that doesn't
sleep there. It would be like going on a classtrip all over again,
woohoo! Those who hate people we have to sort something else out.
So more than half needs a place to sleep, which works perfectly with my
plans of the cottage given that people are up for that.
And when? Oh, when will this happen? When do we have the time, the
spirit? The month to be is July and this so happens to be Finland's
most beautiful month. I was first thinking of doing this in May,
but son, why rush things? "Can't you wait 1 month for that fucking
skateboard, boy" And so we will. Good things come to he who waits
And finally, and I do hope everyone is okey with me posting this (if not
, send me a steam msg), WHO WILL COME? Who the heck filled out the
survey? Will Taneli be there? Will Jiriki show up? Will Rapsu finally
show his Hanska? Does Aleksi only listen to dubstep? Seriously? And will
Dogo finally come to Finland? And can he stand a 90° Sauna? Heh, Only
time will tell. So here's the list of all the gamers who have filled out
the survey so far + the trolls.
I hope the people who will come to this are as excited as me about this,
and I will do the best in making this as comfortable and fun as I can
for everyone.
I have organized events before, this happened to be club-nights in my
hometown of Vaasa with electro-music (which they rarely see there). Not
to brag by I did a lot on my own then and managed pretty good, see? Here
