So we scheduled our match about a week before the deadline, to play ONE day after the deadline (because we were unable to play on Friday or Saturday) and that whole time none of the admins think to send us a quick message saying that maybe we should try to reschedule it for one day earlier, because if we don't we're going to forfeit.
No, instead, we just find out from the ENSL page ON THE DAY OF THE SCHEDULED MATCH that we've forfeited. We checked the ENSL page last night and everything was fine, I think it's quite fair for us to have assumed at that point that the admins were okay to allow us to play one day after the deadline.
Yes, I understand that it's on us that we didn't work something out to be able to play before the deadline, but what's with the lack of communication? And is it being one day late really such an inconvenience to anyone that it's worth the forfeit?
I don't actually care about the points, we're still in the final, I just find it pedantic and unnecessary.

We didn't know about the deadline when we scheduled this match. Scheduling matches between EU and AUS teams isn't easy so I wish we would have been allowed to play this one day late. A forfeit is bad for everyone in the division.

Back in the older Seasons the priority was allways haveing as many matches played as possible hell they even delayed a Finalsmatch cause of this.
(I agree that is a bad thing and should not be done again and you didnt so GJ on this)
But as LAG stated this Match dosnt/didnt affect the planing or outcome of the Finals in this case.
To be more Precise EVEN IF GIEF ROBOT would have Won 4:0 that wouldnt affect the Final Game.
In Short
Matches Played>>Match Forfeit
(like it used to be)
Cause activity create a Community driven League not strict rules and Forfeits.

If teams can't decide one day to play an hour match during almost two months, that's not the NSL's fault. The deadline has been listed during the whole season, was posted on news posts and we regularly encouraged people to schedule via shoutbox & even on match pages.
You had almost two months to schedule, then try to get it done in the last 2 days.
not how it works.

It's not about blaming anyone. I just asked for some flexibility to make div 2 less pointless this season.
We only had four opponents in our div and one disbanded, one didn't make any serious effort in scheduling and then this match was forfeit.
We still played the match though and it was fun so we're good.

(To the admins) Both of you completely missed the point of my post. I quote, "Yes, I understand that it's on us that we didn't work something out to be able to play before the deadline."
I literally admitted that it was our fault we didn't play before the deadline. Yet for some reason you still felt the need to get defensive and say "that's not the NSL's fault." Wtf?
My post was not about whose fault it was for the match not being played in the 2 month time frame, it was about it being scheduled for one day past the deadline and all the problems that arose from that.
To clarify, the points that I wanted to make were:
1. Why did the site itself allow us to schedule the match for a date that was past the deadline, without giving us any errors or notifications? And was it then not obvious from the fact that we didn't change that scheduled time in that whole week, that we didn't know about the deadline?
2. Why did you not bother to take 60 seconds or less, because of this, to send a short steam message to one of our members to clarify that you're not actually okay with us playing at that time, that again, the site allowed us to schedule for?
(Note that we didn't see Yaluzan's comment on our match page as it was 4 days after both teams had 100% confirmed the match date and time - We'd scheduled our last match successfully, or so we thought, and had no incentive to reopen the page. (Or even the site at as we have our own NS2 forum in Australia.))
3. I quote again from my original post,
"And is it being one day late really such an inconvenience to anyone that it's worth the forfeit?"
Was it? If so, how?
Sorry to rant but some answers to those points this time would be great, I realise not everyone can be bothered writing long replies on forums but honestly I was hoping for more than a one-sentence reply and some drivel about how we "can't decide one day to play" and "tried to get it done in the last 2 days" when the very first sentence of the OP clearly states we scheduled a WEEK before the deadline...

Lol kash, you'd fit in really well with this team of badmins.
Calmos, 1. That's a good question and should be a feature being looked at being implemented.
2. Maybe admins should take more effort than just a match thread post when it comes to a forfeit result. Maybe a pm, or steam message, maybe when an admin comments on a match thread it should auto pm the players on ensl.
3. Don't get me wrong, I'm not supporting you. You did fuck up. The line has been drawn in the sand and you just gotta play by the rules or accept the consequences when you sign up to the season and it's rules.
Don't worry dude, there's always next season and if you want, pcws.
Again this all comes down to bad communication. Both teams and the admins don fucked up. The admins stopped a game being played, albeit it a game organised after a deadline. Who wins in this scenario because I can only tell you that the community loses.
Hey since "the rules are the rules" could we replace all the admins by a bot since apparently no human contact is needed ?

maybe admins should take the effort of not only stating a start time on the contest but also an end time so ppl can see it when season starts and act accordingly.
As far as i can see it on the contest page http://www.ensl.org/contests/326 it starts and ends on November 29 2015 which would mean EVERY match was played to late. Just set a proper end date it's not that hard. let's say there is 4 matches to be played give them six (6) weeks to do so that's one and a half month which should be enough time to schedule all the matches if there is a break in between what imho is fkn retarded but ok christmas and shit happens add this break to the time.
Ppl who know they have to get their shit together in about 6 weeks will do so and schedule accordingly because they know in advance. As the system is now u could schedule all ur matches on first day, so the schedule date not the play date, and still for some bullshit reason have matches scheduled after the deadline.
a deadline should be set early so ppl can plan according to this and not come out of nothingness.
concider u have to plan a match it's last weeks match so u try to get every other match in before but they always get delayed for some reason. now u start scheduling this last match and after let's say 2 weeks of effort cause EU vs AUS u finaly got it. u'll be happy and just come to play on that day just to be informed that this was autoforfeit by admin cause after deadline. BULLSHIT.
now concider the same situation but u allready know on first week that the deadline is on that date. 1 of ur matches gets delayed u will now try to get another match in instead of not playin cause u know like everybody else this has to be played before deadline. it's much easier that way. if u can't manage to schedule in time u r fucked but u will know in advance so u can start tryin to schedule difficult to be scheduled matches on fst day or take the forfeit

I just want to say that the official start and end date of the season should be made EXTREMELY clear, as in they are at the top of the "Contests" page at all times, just so that everyone sees it (games like Starcraft 2 do this). I feel like just putting it on a news post isn't enough. Additionally, like it was brought up before, it should be ensured there is a reasonable amount of time in the season to play about 1 match per week, if not less.
Otherwise I'm glad the teams still played in the end, good sportsmanship!
