ENSL updates and news about Season 5
H'okay ladies and gents. We have some big news to bring you today.
First off, lets have a short look at the current season 4. Things have been working OK this season, but the mop-up-week and such has contributed to the bad part with lots delays and so on. These are all issues we have had in mind when we started working on season 5.
UPDATE:
The finals of season 4 will be played this thursday, 15 June at 19.00 CEST between knifegaming and epic. Make sure you are here to experience it or download the demos later.
UPDATE 2:
Knife won 4-0 against Epic, jeje.
Now onto some more exciting stuff. A brand new season 5 will take place around early september, where we will be introducing a new division system into ensl. To correspond with the new system we have made some changes to the rules which will be published along with the changes on the website in due time. I won't go into any detail about the system yet, all I can say is be patient and don't forget to stay on IRC with us.
The biggest news is that we are implementing prizes for the next season thanks to our sponsors. All the champions of every divisions will recieve prizes, that includes the lowest divisions too. So make sure your team is ready to play when we launch! There will follow a special page for prizes with rules and information about how to recieve and win them. We will also try to include prizes for the 2nd placed team in each division, even though it won't be as grand as the winner. You will be able to read about all of this on the same page as the main prizes.
With that said, we still have some waiting to do before season 5 starts. So, in the meantime, ENSL will be hosting a 3on3 combat cup open for anyone to sign up. Don't fear though, some more NS Night Cups to warm the teams up before next season is not far away. More information on these two competitions will be posted here. Enjoy your summer and don't forget to play some NS!

On the other hand changing to another league system is a bad idea. It is not possible to make a more fair league system than the one we already got...

Give source two more years and it'll be the perfect engine for competetive gaming - not too demanding on computers and stable.

Personally I'm a fan of using the "matured" engine- it doesn't mean that only those on a good salary who upgrade their PC regularly can play it (I doubt there'll be a large F.E.A.R. league because of this!); on the other hand- we're a fickle bunch. If our game doesn't have anti--bump-specular-dynamic-lightening-filtering then we don't care. Hell, I guess it's testament to us lot that we still play a game based on the Quake 1 engine. I like it that way! To this day I have no idea what things like "8xAA/4xAF means" (I know one lessens jagged edges).

The real question is should ns:source be done (ever)? When (assuming sometime) they start making it, ns:source will be "late" for a hl2-mod and then we're in the same point. Yeh, just like Benj or someone said sometime ago.

Flayra shud fuck source and start saving and release NS - 2nd generation on the latest engine wether it be UT2007 or some shit like that. He honeslty cant believe he'll make a big sucess with source at the rate hes going. It'll take a year to make and he wont start for quite a while. By then all the other good mods that already have you guys attention (Nuclear Dawn ect.) will be owning the scene atm and NS:S will not stand a chance.

A straight port with the use of contracted devlopers should take no time at all.
Then again, a new website should take no time at all...

no I wasnt whining, I was merely sarcastically expressing how generic it is to release a sudoku game over a year after the initial fad started and he now has to compete with the bajillions of other soduku games out there :/

I think our good freind charlie is depending on the thousands of 13 year old americans that play ns to buy it.
