There are unprofessional jokes? Well im not comedian, guilty as charged.

Cmon! When I was a sysadmin in sixth form, we used to make all kinds of nazi admin jokes, my friend even took fake SS uniform to "masquerades". Its not like we have extreme right opinions or anything.

Now comparing would be bad, if it was serious, but it isn't. I suppose nazis are just a big taboo in Germany.

Reminds me when when someone got banned from Cod server for having name "GoRing" on a german server, but whatever floats your boat man!

Also in case you didn't know, Division Wiking (DW) was a Scandinavian 1.04 NS clan.

Well, you can't be trying to enforce one thing, like stopping racism, then do the crime yourself and twist it as a joke.

I have to agree with GibbZ here, you started a new forum to clean the slate, enforcing stricter rules and what not, but yet you start of with a fuhrer joke.

I know its purely ment as a joke, but those kind of jokes are better left for private use.

About the forums, they are looking good, i guess its just that it is still quite empty in there :P

the joke is self directed not at someone else.. big difference.. and it's also not actually discriminating apart from talking down about the nazi party... i dunno.. is anyone pro nazi here because I certainly wasn't offended by it.

I find it really sad that people dont undestand difference between racism and general joke about political party.

I did say i totally understand its a joke, but i just dont think this is the right place for it with this new regime.

Feeling offended by that kind of stuff is what makes me  throw up sometimes. 

 

 

Obviously it's a joke. Please don't get me wrong. Personally I have nothing against it. All I'm saying is you can't be getting down and strict and then make political jokes like that. Don't get offended by my point jiriki. It's not personal at all. I just don't see it as the best way to kick things off. If you're going professional then do it. But don't say one thing and do another.

Forums do look great though jiriki. They look alot more professional and neat then the last lot.

I think I know why; there's no clear demarcation between posters (but there is the blue bar between the actual posts) and the forum doesn't extend across my entire monitor any more. Also there's no who is online/viewing this post any more. A few fairly meaningless gripes really but I thought I'd suggest it in case you feel like changing it.

 

I can't actually believe you didn't see this reaction coming from the DW joke. Most people don't know about it being an old clan. Also if you want to make this zero tolerance absolutely no drama NS ethic to work, you have to be as dry as a recovering alcoholic.

While I agree using the whole "NAZI ADMIN" schtick is pretty boring, this is such an over reaction.

 

You guys should also bear in mind that jiriki has been slaving away on this site for months now, for no other gratification than what we give him in terms of feedback. Flaming him for making bad jokes is pretty bad form.

It's a simple of case of something that should be allowed but not encouraged by admins. Stay on the safe side just to be safe, hoho.

Besides, if you're wanting this to be the new NS2 site and professionalism is what you're after, then you're even going to have to stop referencing players like Sherpa just for humour. It's pathetic but if you want the site to be accessible to all the new players for NS2 then you're going to have to at least start out that way.

If I was new here, i'd already feel left in the dark ;).

That's just not true. People don't just automatically go "oh hell I don't understand that one joke in that news post I'm outta this shit hole". As long as you don't plaster every sentence with it, private humor doesn't hurt community recruitment. It might even help it, as it acts as a sort of glue, helping to bond the community together.

You're probably right but it'd be nice if someone was devoid of all that subjectivity and humour. I'm not a cranky twat; I just think there should be at least one tier of authority that is impervious to all the banter. That's not to say I want to bestow that responsibility on Jiriki necessarily, either.
