takes 30 seconds to bite down a cc with 6 skulks.. maximus told me because it was the prevert strat against a strong team.. pretty sure you can beacon build an obs and beacon in less than 30 seconds.. or drop a cc o_O
Okay, fair enough. He's wrong though. It takes approximately 11 seconds for five skulks to kill a CC.
Again, read my post and think.
The first skulk who enters base starts biting the armory, making the comm engage "baserush mode". Peach does what he always does, zooms over to the marines, tells them to kill the RTs and drops an obs. When he finally realizes what's going on, the CC is low health. Most likely he won't react fast enough to do much of anything until the CC is down, except do what he usually does -- click the beacon button. But by the time the marines reach base, the CC is down and the comm dead.
Now obviously there are many things the comm can try to do if he's been in this situation before. But that's the whole point, Peach hadn't. He didn't know what to do and when given only a few seconds to react and decide, everyone will choose to do what they usually do in similar situations, in this case a normal baserush.
Right, seems really presumptuous about immediate reactions. 11 seconds is still quite a long time and there's a specific warning sound that says 'CC under attack' as soon as it starts.
Good try though, I like to see different strats tried out, especially in low level games. Must admit I was disappointed to not see nL have a crack at saunamen using a normal marine strat considering the strength of the line-up.
Yeah, valid criticism. It was a gamble, but as evidenced by Peach's reactions, the presumptions turned out to be correct.
Judging by names only, we should've rolled everyone. Unfortunately names don't guarantee performance. I had hoped we'd be able to get back on form, but it just didn't work out. Most of the players didn't have the time or motivation to practice enough. In the end we even had to bring in Pizza, who wasn't really on the team, just to avoid a forfeit.
Pretty disappointing, but as comebacks go not the worst I've seen.
Things I concentrated on, talking about map layout, commons strats hive pros/cons. Talk about teams/players a bit. Not stating the obvious :P
Also trying to reduce over-used phrases, but man, that's still hard. It will come :)
Be sure to watch round 5 and 6 on eclipse, best matches I have casted so far.
This time just gathers. Still, that one was funny and the other one (still uploading atm) was pretty good. Preventing old-game-rant: I tried to find demos of the most "voted" epic games (top 5 matches thread) but didn't really find any. And I was too lazy to go install 1.04 for kinda season 1/2 games, sorry.
Quite weird that you can't find them. Fana even have links in his post. You also don't need anything but 3.1 in 90% of those demos, but if you really are that lazy here is link to ENSL6 Finals sm vs. 9L match. It's 3.2 so only thing you have to do is to fix the demo with HLAE. http://www.ensl.org/files/demos/ensl/s06/ENSL6F_nl-sm.zip
Thanks, exactly what I wanted. I just stopped after an hour looking what game possibly to cast. Time consuming enough to record, compile and upload so I hope a bit lazyness on that part is OK with you.
Meh, always wrong with the names. Unfortunetaly, the match page almost never lists all participating players, so often I have to guess from the little I know.
Round1 Comment: You kind of missed the fact that marines started with a normal strat and aliens were doing their normal stuff and were not prepared for the rush.
Round3 Comments: Dude, use the config I gave to you. Just press F12 and it'll go back 5 seconds (press several times if necessary) and even if the player's dead it'll still spectate him correctly.
bind "f8" "pause1" // Pause/Play.
alias "pause1" "dem_pause 1; bind f8 play1"
alias "play1" "dem_pause 0; bind f8 pause1"
bind "f9" "dem_speed 1" // Normal speed.
bind "f10" "dem_speed 4" // Fast forward.
bind "f11" "dem_speed 0.1" // Slow motion.
bind "f12" "dem_jump -5; dem_pause 0" // Jump back five seconds.
Also there's no point talking 25 seconds of one frag. Also I think there's lots of micro stuff you're missing. Talk about positioning, talk about comeback possibilities etc. Otherwise good job.
